Dr. Markert from Duke University implants thymuses from babies during heart surgery into babies without thymuses and AIDS patients.

A 1980 article says the problem with transplanting these organs into babies born without a thymus is the risk of fatal graft-versus-host reaction with fetal thymus transplantation.

Multiple studies showed calf thymus peptides were successful in restoring immune function in babies born without a thymus without negative effects. One 1980 article ( 2 decades before my son was born and his thymus organ stolen) examined the effects of a (calf) thymus tissue extract, thymosin fraction 5, on the in vitro and in vivo immune function in children with the DiGeorge syndrome. T-cell numbers were increased with thymosin F5 in vitro in three of five patients. T-cell number and function was improved in three of four patients treated with thymosin F5 in vivo.

This was just one of many thymus peptides.

So, they just need to use calf thymus, right?

I emailed Dr. Markert back and forth in 2004 so she could face children like my son, suffering because his thymus organ was taken during heart surgery and not placed back. I was hoping, faced with the consequences of her actions, this would cause her to stop taking thymuses, implanting them into AIDS patients and other babies.

From her responses I realized she has no intention of stopping what she is doing to babies like my son.

Dr. Markert dismissed calf thymic peptides as an option in her emails to me:

There is no need to steal babies organs, but let’s suppose for a moment, these babies would ALL die without stealing thymuses from infants. Lets imagine the AIDS patients they implant these stolen thymus organs into ALL die sooner without using stolen thymuses.

When has it ever been ethical to take organs from babies and adults during surgery, not place them back, call them throw away tissue then “gift” them to someone else?

If you count how many infants die from thymectomy and suffer from it’s effects, I believe it would be more than the few babies born without thymuses.

What about future drugs they plan to make from live babies thymuses stolen during heart surgery?

Those are not for dying people. They are for people with autoimmune disorders.

The highly irrational part of this - Thymectomized babies have high risk of developing autoimmune disorders because their thymus organ was taken from them.

How is it excusable to take from one baby without INFORMED consent and give their organ to someone else?

Why not just place the organ back into the baby it belongs to?
