2/12/25 Mumbai reported its first death due to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), raising the total death toll in Maharashtra to eight.
203 patients have been diagnosed with GBS in the recent “outbreak.”
Of the 109 patients who have been discharged thus far, 52 are in ICU, and 20 are on ventilators.
They are blaiming the water.
Mumbai is participating in an adult vaccination campaign to combat tuberculosis (TB) in 2024 and 2025. The campaign is part of India's National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), which aims to end TB by 2025.
The vaccine they are using is based on weakened TB bacteria.
Tuberculosis (TB) and Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) are very different diseases, with TB being a bacterial infection primarily affecting the lungs, while GBS is an autoimmune disorder attacking the peripheral nerves, causing muscle weakness and paralysis; however TB can sometimes trigger GBS through an immune response mechanism called "molecular mimicry," meaning the body mistakenly attacks its own nerves while fighting the TB bacteria.
If Guillain-Barre is an autoimmune disease, how are they finding it in the water?
Let's unpack this.
“The 72 water sources were found contaminated after chemical and biological analysis of 5,891 water samples from different parts of the city. 82 serum samples have been sent to NIMHANS Bengaluru for Antiganglioside Antibodies testing.
Antiganglioside antibodies are autoantibodies that target gangliosides, which are glycolipids found on the surface of nerve cells (neurons) and other tissues. They are found in people with Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
Autoantibodies in the water is proof they have the disease but it isn't the CAUSE of the disease.
Seriously, people
"Oral administration provides a simple and non-invasive approach for drug delivery. However, due to poor absorption and swift enzymatic degradation in the gastrointestinal tract...

Wait, what?! They found antibodies in the water? Really? Is oral administration of antibodies, let's say, monoclonal antibodies, even a thing? let me check ...
